Frequently Asked Questions
"Is the Action Club a racist organization?"
The Action Club is a patriotic organization that is interested in promoting conservative values and conservative candidates. Our membership includes people from various racial and ethnic backgrounds, including recently naturalized immigrants, members of several political parties and unaffiliated voters. Our focus today is on the invasion of illegal aliens into America and the threat it poses to our national security, our economic health, the viability of our communities, our health and our cohesion as a united country. We welcome into our country legal immigrants of all races and nationalities who respect our laws and our values.
"What threat does illegal immigration pose?"
We believe that America is a sovereign nation and has a right and an obligation to secure its borders against invasion. Illegal immigration threatens our sovereignty and circumvents and creates disrespect for our law. It strains our education, social, criminal justice and health care systems, perpetuates a criminal underclass that preys on American citizens, and burdens the taxpayer with footing the bill. Furthermore, uncontrolled immigration undermines the concept of assimilation into the greater society united with a common language and common cultural norms. Unassimilated aliens create economic and social pressures that are taking us to the breaking point and may result in a moratorium on all immigration.
"Why do you have a Mexican flag on your billboard?"
The flag depicted on the billboard was raised by Hispanic students at a high school in California. We think it captures the contempt that illegal aliens have for the country they are invading.
"This billboard appears to inflame immigration fears. Is that what you want?"
No one needs to fear legal immigrants who respect our laws. The Action Club is supportive of those who wish to come and become productive members of our society. We are bringing attention to the crisis of illegal immigration in this country and in this state in particular. We would be happy to see some streamlining of the legal immigration process after illegal immigration is stopped.
There are many foreigners who respect our immigration laws and are waiting in line and are eager to become Americans. Illegal aliens need to return to the end of the line and the end of that line is in their country of origin.
"Don't you run the risk of creating fear among the illegal alien population?"
Yes. We expect that these lawbreakers will fear the attention they are getting the from the public and from law enforcement. We think they should. The possibility of apprehension and deportation should be real and ever-present for those who break our laws by their very presence in our country. Illegal aliens should be faced with the option of voluntarily returning to their country of origin or being apprehended and deported involuntarily.
If illegal aliens want to reduce their fears and become real Americans, they can turn themselves in to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) by calling (866) DHS-2ICE.
"Aren't you unfairly targeting Hispanics?"
We are focusing on the facts of the problem. According to the Pew Hispanic Center report in 2004, 57% of all undocumented migrants are from Mexico. The next largest percentage is "Other Latin America" with 24%. That means that 81% of our illegal immigration problem is coming from our southern border.
"Are you working with other similar organizations?"
We are in touch with several other grassroots organizations who share our views: Grassfire, ALIPAC, FreedomWorks.
"What do you hope to accomplish?"
We are bringing attention to the problem of illegal immigration, especially its effects here in North Carolina. We are discussing the issue and developing action plans for our members and other concerned citizens. We endorse candidates who agree with us on the issue, and we recommend and support legislation that discourages illegal immigration.
So far, we have seen Rep. Charles Taylor, Rep. Sue Myrick, and city council member Carl Mumpower taking active steps to create dialog and introduce legislation that addresses this issue.
| Charles Taylor: | Immigration Courts, Streamline Deportation, Training |
| Sue Myrick: | Illegal Immigration Action Plan |
| Carl Mumpower: | Local Response to Illegal Immigration |
We also have a document called the Campaign for Legal Immigration that sums up our views and we have asked candidates, elected officials and business-people to sign it. The document can be found at TheActionClub.com.
The local and state candidates below support our position and some have signed the pledge affirming their agreement.

"I've been to your website. Is the Action Club a Republican PAC?"
No. The Buncombe County Republican Action Club is an independent, informal group of local citizens, including Democrats and Unafiliated, who are assembling to formulate action steps that will raise awareness of this issue and are working to promote positive steps at every level of government to return this country to its tradition of patriotic immigration.
